New alcohol policy at University of Delaware. Smart or Stupid?

udel-300x2251The Review, a respected newspaper at the University of Delaware, posted an interesting article about a shift in the alcohol policy at the school.   The article points out that the university decided it was best to give students amnesty from the official 3 strikes policy because it was causing students to avoid checking into a hospital or the university medical services for fear of getting that third strike.    Check out this wacky quote.

“I think that’s great that they’re doing that,” Guerrero said. “There have actually been instances that I have been really sick. It was actually me and my roommate were really sick and throwing up and the only reason we didn’t go to the health center was because we already had strikes…My mom even told me, ‘Don’t go the health center you can’t get another strike.’ ”

We would love to hear your opinion on this.  Is that scary to any of you that someone that sick wouldn’t even seek medical attention because of something like that?   Do you feel that this policy of three strikes is a bit ridiculous or do you think that college students need to be controlled to a certain extent from their school?   It’s an interesting debate and I am sure opinions run strong on both sides.
